Woodstock and District

Walking Group, 28 Feb 25 - University Parks to Iffley

Group members walking along side the Cherwell River in Oxford

All nine of us met at the Bevington road bus stop in Oxford on a cold and foggy Friday in February and walked through University Parks where we enjoyed a spectacular display of spring flowers.

From there we crossed over to Mansfield Road and stopped to admire New College’s latest building - The Gradel Quadrangle. Do have a look at the pictures on the website, it’s quite amazing https://www.new.ox.ac.uk/Gradel-Gallery .

We then headed on to Christ Church Meadows via Longwall street, walking alongside the rivers Cherwell and Isis. The fog had now lifted and was soon to be replaced by glorious sunshine.

Two members left us at Folly Bridge and the rest walked on to Iffley village where we enjoyed a home- cooked lunch at the Prince of Wales.

Five of us retraced our steps back to Folly Bridge. By a stroke of luck, the college boats were out in full swing that day – apparently it was the third day of The Bumps - and so we had the added bonus of watching the races too.
