Woodstock and District

Walk around Blenheim, Friday 22 November

After a dodgey week, the weather turned out to be glorious (though cold - we all wrapped up well!).

A select group, just 5 of us. We started at the Museum in Woodstock, along Chaucer Street and down the steps to the Green Gate into Blenheim Park. We stuck mainly to paved paths, but did go off piste to the Column of Victory, and then to the lake, where we found a Blenhiem Gamekeeper - with great charm and politeness he told we needed to wait as there was shooting taking place - or we could reroute, which we did along the side of the lake to the Grand Bridge and the Palace.

Then, a decision - do we continue to Long Hanborough, our original plan, or return to Woodstock, having done 3 miles already - we decided the latter, so we went back and split up - some to an exhibition at the Museum, and some for a coffee before returning home.

Despite being shorter, it was glorious, the company and conversation great, the views across the lake just wonderful.
