Recorders

Status:Active, open to new members
Leader:
When: Weekly on Monday mornings

The Recorder group meets on Monday mornings in Long Hanborough from 10.00 to 12.00.

Learning to play a musical instrument is a stimulating and social activity ! The recorder is a great choice of instrument because after a short while you will be able to play lots of tunes and enjoy making music with other people. Absolute beginners and anyone who has not played for a while are very welcome to contact the Group Leader to get advice on how to begin and then to come along to part of the main meeting on Monday mornings to get more support.

If you played the descant recorder at school, this may be a chance to move on to one of the larger, more mellow instruments. We particularly need more bass recorder players. If you wish to try out a larger instrument, we have a few spare ones that you may be able to borrow.

We play as an ensemble with the quartet range of descant, treble, tenor and bass. We are a friendly, supportive group. We play early and baroque music as well as modern pieces which have been written for the recorder. Recently we have also enjoyed some excellent arrangements of folk songs.
